Professor, Department of Political Science, UFMG (Belo Horizonte, Brazil). PhD in Political Science at USP, with a period as a visiting fellow at Harvard University. MA in Political Science and BA in Law from UFMG. Previously held a Postdoctoral Researcher position at FGV-CEPESP.
I worked in new technologies for data analysis and production at the public sector, the third sector, research institutes, and news organizations.
My research focuses on understanding local politics and multilevel relations between local actors and state and national politics, with an emphasis on the Brazilian case in comparative perspective. To this end, I study political institutions and electoral behavior at the local level, addressing topics such as electoral incentives in local contests, parliamentary behavior in municipalities, and electoral geography.
This website provides information about my teaching and research activities, software (R packages) to which I contributed, and a blog where I share texts to a general audience.
